Showing off my boat anchor!

Shovel handle. And it appears to have their replacement ram which took the place of their original which had a built in shell holder. Never had a problem with it but it did need to be kept clean. Should be a plaque riveted to it with serial number.
Virtually indestructible and I think with the proper attachment it could be used to change tires.
The handle appears to be correctly installed as well. Never want a thread exposed in any press handle as that first EXPOSED thread is always the weak point and will break there. Always amazed me that the MEC press has that and it’s really a sign the engineer never made it through the first year of engineering school. The very best design of press handle design is believe it or not LEE cast iron. No threads, adjustable for both length and angle. Ingenious.
I’m hooked on tools. Presses in particular. I have eleven. 7 mounted. Only use two but I have lots of room. The A4 is a beast. However the LEE will take 50 BMG which is sort of unique.
I’m not saying the handle needs to take insane force but it’s been posted on here a guy broke the handle on an A4! I wonder how he thought he would ever extract the case.

I love my USA made A4. Anything better will come with a four-digit price tag.
Yes! Hollywood Senior is a strong press as well. I’m talking about the original one not all the knock offs that are out there.
I have NO connection to LEE but their cast iron really deserves a look. Could well be the strongest press made today.
And remember, the press has zero to with producing accurate ammunition. But you need the strength so stuff doesn’t break especially when F/L sizing.

I bought a Big Max at a gun shop auction about thirty-five years ago for $10.00. It was mounted on a table as a demonstrator. I don't believe these were ever big sellers. Apparently no one in the crowd knew what it was. I can't recall now if anyone else bid on it. Good press you won't outgrow. It came with the three-jaw shellholder plus the conversion to use regular shellholders.

Good find! Im also a fan of the Lee Classic Cast, in fact I read on here thats what Robinett uses for his Bibb bullets. Think I gave $80 for mine new.

jwv2001,

the big appeal for me, is the jaw opening depth. I have a 338 Lapua, and I can stick a charged case in it and fit a 300gr Berger; then ease it up to the die bottom. I've also owned double rifles, one chambered for the 500 Nitro Express 3" case. And a Sharps 50 caliber 3 1/4" case loading 570gr cast bullets.
Big cases and long heavy bullets need this type of press.

GREAT PRESS! Congrats!

I bought a Rock Chucker in 1993 and it's still my only press. Still going strong. They built-em to last, that's for sure.

Enjoy.
