Show and tell 6mmBR coyote gun.

Just got my 6mmBR Norma back form Dakota Custom Rifles and here it is. I think this will be the ultimate coyote rifle. Grouping well with 95 Berger VLD target. 20 thou. off the lands with 29.3 Varget and BR4s. Outside turned/skimmed Lapua brass and seated into a .266 neck. Not finished with ladder testing and seating depth but dropped a coyote at 94yds in his tracks. Anyone else shooting a BR at coyotes? Mesa Stock, tikka action, proof barrel 22" ,6lbs 3/4oz. I'd like to see any other varmint BRsIMG_1822 Small Medium.jpeg

It’s a MDT 6br/dasher 10 round. It came with the spacer to set it forward. I will say the 87gr Vmax did bind one time but the 95 Berger a have run smooth.

ME ME ME! I am loving the BR for a coyote bobcat turtle rifle! Its not that pretty by a long shot. But then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have been shooting 70 gr Nosler Varmageddons , but am soon to switch over to Hornady 58 Vmax and IMR 4227. I know, but it shoots in the .3's. Its a slow twist barrel : ( , and I wanna burn it out so I can put an 8 twist on it. It smacks coyotes and bobcats and doesnt ruin the hide. : ). Just finished up the Mike Bryant magazine upgrade, feeds like a champ.

I have wanted to build a 6br for predator/varmint but have not gotten around to it. I have more predator rifles than i do shoes. Depending on what areas i go out calling decides what i take out.

The 87 vmax didn’t shoot great at all. I also tried nosler 95s bt spritzer but the rifle has zero free bore so I had to seat them so far in it crushed powder at 28 grains. I’m open to suggestions if any are out there. It’s 7.5 twist barrel.

y did you get 0 FB with a 7.5 twist- with that twist i would have a FB to handle 105s and up without the bullet protruding below the shoulder- preferably the neck. you could get the throat extended if you want to do that but if you wanna shoot in the 60 to 80 grain range for what youre doing, Id just try different bullets in that range to see if i could find one that suits/ stabilizes. that will free up some powder capacity and give ssome higher velocity to boot. I got a 14 twist 6br barrel i bought used (srbr guy -it was a ppc when i got it) on a R700– that thing shoots berger 68s small- even at 400, which surprised me.

Something shorter like a 53, 55 or 60 Vmax should be better with that freebore. Hopefully they will hold up in that twist. Did you not like the 95's in the first post or you just want to try something different? Feed it what it likes.

Reasonable question, I wanted to make hits out to 600yds bc a lot of my dogs sit down at that range. I was trying to move up in weight from the 77 Sierra I shot in 22CM and still have a hunting bullet. “I can’t find the 95 VLD/hunting bergers”. As for free bore Ive only just began my journey into the shooting world and didn’t even understand it until my buddy/smith cut a chamber in half to explain. The give and take in shooting and ballistics is EXTREME!

Why not try the 103 eld-x ? cheap available and precise. high bc. thats what I am trying out for long range shots

The 95s did make a very large hole on exit but they shoot extremely well. Certainly in the twos and in better conditions I think that could be ones. I’ll take all the input I can get. I want 600yd gun that doesn’t destroy pelts. My 22CM pin holed with Sierra 77gr hpbt but shot them so good I couldn’t not shoot them.

The nosler spritzer bt had huge amount of bearing surface behind the ogive. So the bullet had to sit way down past the neck shoulder. The VLD or long slim bullets where perfect. This free bore deal has been a real ride to get a grip on for me. It seems zero needs long tappers. With the Ogive way back. Please explain if I’m wrong. The first picture is nosler second is Berger both 95s
