Shout Out to Seb - Joypod-X related

A while ago, I mentioned to my friend Seb that while I loved the Joypod (I've had 3 so far over the years, from the original to the current X model), I was having issues mounting and removing the joystick. I am in my 70s and experiencing the joys (notice the pun) of arthritis. The small nut that is used to secure the joystick to the bipod is quite difficult for me to either tighten properly or when I succeed at that, removing it can be frustrating. It's an old person issue. I asked him if there was a way to make it larger or somehow easier for me to deal with. Seb essentially said (to paraphrase,) "I've got this."

A little while later a small package showed up at my door and it in there are two types of mounting nut. You can see them in the picture below. One is about twice the diameter of the original nut (need to compare and measure) and the other one is also bigger but has big grooves in it. They bo0th work MUCH better for me and I favor the one with the grooves.

You really can't beat this customer service; Seb came through and it really is a big help for me. I thanked him profusely and warned him that other old decrepit customers may come forward.

I have the groovy nut mounted on the bipod in the picture and you can see the other large one on the joystick on the table.

Oh, and before one of you wiseacres points out that I have the joystick mounted on the wrong side, be aware that is how I use it IRL and have been doing so for what? 10 years?

Groovy nuts are good . . .

Sebastian is as good as they come! Thank you for sharing the outstanding customer service experience.
Just to be clear, the term "groovy" was popular in the 50s-60 and early 70s. The kids here who are in the 50s or younger are probably not familiar with the term, so look it up.

Same problem..I just carry a pair of pliers around..and why do we call it a pair when it’s just one?

Yeah, I didn't want to use a tool, just something else to lose.
As for pliers, very simple. Plier is from the Latin, pilliarum, which means toothed stick. You need two of them to make a useful tool, so they come as a pair. It's true! I wrote it on the internet

I pulled out my handy dandy calipers. The original nut is .75 inch in diameter. The larger nut is 1.0 inch and the groovy nut is also 1.0 inch at the lands, so to speak. Here's a picture.

Thats a nice touch for the already excelent SEB Joypod!!

For people who are really tight on weight... how much more does it weight compared with the original standard nut?

Also, it would be nice if SEB could sell this larger nut with groooves as an accessorie... a friend of mine has the same problem trying to tighten the little standard nut.

LRCampos.

It's aluminum, it doesn't weigh hardly anything. If someone is that tight on weight, they have bigger issues. Balances at various matches will vary way more.

I warned Seb there would be others, and he's aware of this thread. I also have it on my Facebook account.

Your friend can contact him directly. Seb's a great guy and he responds.
