Shout out to Dusty Stevens

I did a trade with Dusty for this barrel. He made it a very easy and smooth deal. Great turn around time and the chamber looks great. I told him he I was going to cerakote the barrel and he put some type of finish on it that I thought was quite neat looking so I just left it. Not bad at all for a back up 'do all" barrel. Can't wait till it warms up here to shoot it (anything above freezing at this point) but so far I'm quite pleased

That finish is like a finish Dan Doweling (sp?) does, he calls it his swizzle dick finish.
In about 1980 I got a barrel of his with this finish.

Thanks! As ignorant as it sounds, this whole gun started (and still kinda is) an experimental/backup/whatever gun. Its bigger brother is similar but in a .284 win. I got the action dirt cheap and got it trued then tried a different stock but wound up back with the Eliseo. I have a 6BR barrel that is shooting pretty good with it and now I have this barrel to switch into. This should be a good year for shooting, I have 4 different barrels for this year and they are all shooting sub .5MOA but this one still has to get proofed but I don't think it will give me any trouble. I can't wait for the groundhogs to come out

where is my main man @potatoe ? I hope the new kiddos haven't ran him ragged!!

Hey @Dusty Stevens ! I'm still lurking around. Those little ladies sure do keep you busy. I didn't get to do much shooting this past year but I'll be getting out more this year, I'm starting to get my butt in gear and ready for those groundhogs. Hope things are good with with you, and hope that tikka 595 continental is still in prime condition ;)

Yep, looks like a Dowling barrel swizzle stick finish. He put the barrel between centers, fires up the lathe and 'polishes' the barrel with a 4" grinder! One thing about it, you never have to worry about scratching it.

Mine are smooth as silk. You cant feel any roughness. Smoother than bead blasted

I'll echo that shout out to my friend Dusty, he's always been supportive to me on and off AS
Ya couldn't ask for a better guy.
Sincerely
Jim
