Recently had an Extractor go down at a match in a Kelbly's this year. They went above and beyond to take care of it. Rebuilt the bolt AND made a new bolt with a Sako extractor free! Thought I would be proactive and get some spares for all my other rigs. (More than I care to mention)
My big bore Barnard PL had the extractor fail, and got it micro welded. Gave Whidden a call for a couple of spare kits and a firing pin spring. No bueno! They haven't gotten a response from Barnard in a couple of years. Panic set in and I started calling around, no luck. Started contacting every dealer in multiple countries to no avail. Reached out to Forum members here that reside there and export regulations are a problem. I started reaching out to Gunsmiths in New Zealand and got a response from dean@gunsmith.com.nz
We struck it off, he lived here a couple of years while going to gunsmith school. He gave me the low down on what's really happening, but said he could chase the parts I needed. The shipping wasn't cheap or fast, but they're at my local post office today. I need to find a way to repay him for what is above and beyond help. I was going to send a made in Colorado Spiderco. No, bueno! I was informed it would get confiscated in customs. You think it's restrictive here?.Any how, big thank you to Dean Maisey for all the help and just a really good guy. Any suggestions to repay his kindness except cash, easy, but not very personal. Public acknowledgement first.
BTW, I really like my Barnard! 338LMImp
