Shoulders Problem

Hi guys... I'm a newbie in reloading BUT I did read, view, try almost everything
I have 60 once fired nickel cartridges 300 WSM from:
Win Ballistic Silver tip 150 Gr @ 3300 fps
Browning BXR 155 Gr @ 3260
The PROBLEM is the shoulder is 0.008 - 0.0012" forward
After running them with LEE and/or RCBS FL die... the shoulder WON'T BACK OFF...
All the rest is with in the specs from unfired cartridge and/Saami
I even tried to put some fillers gauge up to 0.015" between the cartridge base and the shell holder. . Only the mouth gets smaller but the shoulder won't budge
Any helpful tricks?
Thanks you all
From Québec with love ❣️

If the die is bottomed out on the shell holder and putting a feeler gauge under the case shows that the neck is getting smaller, it almost sounds like you have the wrong die. The neck needs to be smaller all the way down to the shoulder before it can begin to start to be sized.

Can you post a photo of a piece of brass before and after sizing?

This is a common problem with the WSM cartridges. Winchester must be loading them pretty hot. So hot that the head is expanded beyond the ability of any sizing die to restore the head to proper dimension. So what happens is the enlarged head stops the sizing from fully going all the way down and bumping the shoulder. Try going with new reloading brass and forget using that fired crap.

Great advice. Throw the nickel stuff in the garbage can. It will feel at home.
