Shoulder pain

I have even heard of people placing pot holders under their shirt to help.... I am also in the torn rotator cuff group , shooting skeet twice a week even with 1oz skeet loads for the 12ga starts to bother it.... It really shows up when reloading the hulls on my MEC.... Put a good pad on your rifle and keep shooting , maybe it's time for some new friends if they can't understand your pain....

For deer, I wwnt back to the 243 Win which is what I started with over 50 years ago. With the right bullet, correct shot placement, and reasonable distance, the 243 will do the job.
Hell, I'm mid thirties and run 6'01" 230 lbs and all I can see myself hunting with from here out is my .243. Dang things just work. No muss, no fuss...

Actually I don't have a hard recoil rifle. My 6ppc recoils the most because of it's lighter weight. The pain is in the top of my arm at the shoulder joint. I have never seen a recoil pad on a bench gun. My buddys would think [know] I'm a pussy if I had one. lol. I was thinking of a vest with a pad in it. Just wondering what others did.

Have a good day.
Like they aren't going to notice the padded vest?

All my CF rifles have recoil pads.

Here's what I do, have protruding collar bones, have plenty of Limb saver pads and they work nice, But have 4 BR guns with Aluminum butts, so I take a 20''x 12'' towel, fold it vertically and hang it over my shoulder, it works!
Been doing it for 20 years :).

Never lost a deer to the 243 if I hit it. Oh I missed a few but with a broadside slightly behind the shoulder hit I never failed to retrieve a deer. My favorite all time bullet is the 85 grain Sierra BTHP. Super accurate and very effective.

Check out PAST recoil pad inserts. You can get them in a strap-on version too. I use them when shooting my Pedersoli Remington Rolling Block muzzleloader from the bench. Getting too old to take .50 caliber, 400-grain bullets over 90 grains of powder in a light rifle from that position! Really helps.

I've been using the PAST strap-on for years when shooting an 03 & similar rifles in competition. They are well worthwhile.

Most shoot BR free recoil so it's a good bet you are doing something else to aggravate an existing problem. Equipment is heavy and that can be a problem to deal with. I'd look at other things rather than recoil unless you were shooting a heavy recoil rifle from the bench. Even shooting seat height and position can add to existing problems so you can take a look at your setup. Good luck.
