should I use an electric call for COYOTES by my DEER stand?

I wanted to try an electric caller using prey sounds(not other coyote sounds), and one of those electronic furry prey decoys. I see deer now, but I also see a lot of coyotes. is this a bad idea?

thanks!

A mouth fawn bleat works wonders!
I have one of the Extuingisher calls.
Set to fawn bleat, and wail away on it.
Just be aware, it draws in any apex predator. Aka bears, bobcats, and if in your area, wolves and big cats too.

Fawn in distress may also draw in an anxious doe, and possibly a buck too.

If elk are in your area, same applies with a cow call. High pithch it, and wail away!

i will have to take a look at it, thanks

I'd just keep one of those squeaker type calls or a high-pitched mouth call in your pocket for calling coyotes that might come through your deer stand area.

If a coyote is spotted and you feel that it might be a good time to try getting it, give the call a few squeaks.

If it is prime deer time and you want to give the coyote a pass, you can. Setting up the caller and decoy is going to spread your scent into the area where deer might travel and may detract from seeing deer.

One thing I have noticed while calling coyotes and playing distress sounds, is this can also cause deer to become alarmed and move away from the sound.

Sometimes deer are curious and investigate, but the sound of something dying usually causes them to pack up and leave for a quieter area.

After deer season is over or you are tagged out, heck yeah, call all you want from your stands for coyotes.

In regard to deer, I've had some success attracting does in the early season with a fawn distress call but not later in the season. I don't know if this is true or not but I've been told an explanation for that is because as the fawns get later into the year their "voice" so to speak deepens. So that high pitch squealing would be something they'd expect to hear early when the fawns are young but later it's out of place and scares deer.

Last season right a dawn I see this yote come into my lane about 170 yards out . Thought he was a black coyote I hit my Ed Scearcy squeaker a couple of times and he started coming my way. He came right up to my stand about 50 feet away and sat down. Bad move on his part introduced him to my 270 win. I shoot all yotes and hogs if they show up. Deer are # 3 on my list. with a 90 day deer season there is always tomorrow.

One thing i can tell you using a fawn bleat is, if you use it when the does are calving you may get the $hit stomped out of you. The only thing that saved me from getting cut up by her was that she couldn't get any closer to me. However she did blow enough snot on me that it took me five minutes to clean my glasses after she left and she hung around for about ten minutes waiting for me to come out of the reprod i was in. That was the first time and last time i have used that call at that time.

I can’t believe you shot that poor handicap three legged coyote

One of my go to tricks for coyote is the fawn bleat and a few coyote yips, I do this all on a single reed turkey call and by hand squeezing my nose with both index fingers and saying Màaaaaa with hands cupped so you can add tone to bleat, no elect call needed. Be aware coyote know deer don't live trees

Only you can answer if you should shoot coyotes from your deer stand.

If your deer are easy to come by, then maybe. We shoot any coyote that doesn’t interfere with an elk or deer hunt, but you need some experience to know when...

On more than one occasion I have had deer walk right up to a squealing rabbit call and smell the caller. As posted, if you have a decoy and/or turn on the call all of a sudden when deer are near they will scatter. I have killed fox and 20 minutes later shot a nice buck. I left the fox lay until I was done hunting. Also, fox and coyotes tend to travel in pairs, if you shoot one keep right on calling and be still, pretty good chance you might see/shoot another one.

If you don't just shoot them pretty soon you will have no deer, or much of anything else. If it scares the deer away for the day, there is always tomorrow.

had a doe chase me around a big oak tree in my yard--fawn distress call---she ran into the yard and would've got me if airedale had not grabbed her---she whooped him pretty good. her baby must have been close, guess she thought it was in trouble
