Shot Show Update - Peterson Brass

I spent some time at the Peterson booth and they announced some great news for me at least. They will be offering 300 WSM brass very soon. They had a couple samples and production will be starting in the near future. They had other cases that they were introducing as well but honestly I got so excited about the 300 WSM that I ignored the rest. I'm pretty sure that the 7mm WSM was in the mix as well. It sounded very favorable that maybe we will see some 284 brass also. Maybe not this year but it sounded like they were taking a hard look at it.

There is a claim out there that Peterson made 50,000 6BR cases for one internet distributor, but I can't find any proof of that.

I have been waiting for more than 6 months for the 300 Win Mag brass that they already manufacture, and was told they would not have until the spring. Hate to think what the lead time would be for a new cartridge offering?

They did. Keep your eyes peeled online. 7wsm is in the works too. When I toured their facility two weeks ago I was informed that one of their “top priorities” was to ensure that there is NEVER a brass shortage again. I got to see a lot of their cartridge prototypes, and they can produce many more cartridges than what they currently have released. I was told to “be patient, it’s coming”

Out in the loading room messing with the Peterson cases I received earlier this afternoon. I measured the primer pockets of all 50 cases. Well, 47 of them measured at .122 and the other 3 measured at .1225. The necks measured between .014-.0145. I have never gotten cases that uniform!! Hope I got the decimal point in the right place.

I’ll bet if you weigh them you’ll be very pleased too.

Peterson Brass Showcases New Cartridge Brass

Peterson Cartridge Company showcased a quartet of new brass products that will enter production later this year. Peterson is expanding its line of American-made cartridge brass to include 6mm Creedmoor (both large and small primer), 6XC (both large and small primer), .270 WSM, and .300 WSM. We like the availability of 6XC in with a small primer pocket option. This should be very popular with the PRS crowd. Peterson’s .270 and .300 Win Short Mag brass gives hunters and target shooters new options.

as well as several people signing up to be field testers for 300NM brass with everyone still wondering if that was true including myself?

The Peterson 300winmag brass was gobbled up instantly as it hit the distributors. They made lots of it but obviously nowhere near enough.

We got some up here in Canada and the price was a little less than Remington or Winchester 300winmag brass. Crazy good price.

I cant hardly envision a 7wsm being more popular than a 6br.
I think they look at it and ask theirselves where is there a need for brass, they see it through marketing eyes. But that brings up the question, would they sell more WSM brass or 6BR brass? I guess they think they will do better with the WSM. I tend to think they would sell more 6BR brass, but I Build buildings and they make brass so what do I know.
