Shot Marker Question

Looking to use Shot Marker my club has. And maybe buy one of my own. I have seen people use there phone, Tablet or lap top. Is there a best option.

Best option is the one you know how to use, navigate to websites, switch on/off wifi, connect to different wifi, click/touch buttons, and see the screen easily. Bigger screens have some benefits, and if using a laptop I would want touch screen along with the keyboard. Ipads overheat in the sun more than some others, I'm sure at a certain temp they'll all overheat. Covered lines help that.

I use my phone or a cheap refurbed 10 inch Amazon Kindle fire I got for $60 and have had zero issues with it.

Honestly, iPhone works fine, but if you prefer a bigger picture then you may like to use an iPad like my girlfriend does. Either works fine.

And know how to adjust the power settings so the darn thing doesn't go black between shots.;)

iPads are fine, but not as sturdy in the sun as other tablets. An iPad in direct sun can overheat in a few minutes. It will do fine if kept shaded and cool.

I would tend to say use as much or little screen or processor as you need. Some folks just use their phones, others go all the way to small laptops. It really depends on 1) how much screen you want, and 2) how much data storage or processing power you want. YMMV

Well I had and have trouble with with most all Cell Phones Etc.
I have a ShotMarker. Order one is Adam’s Tablets Cleaned up for His Products ! 90% of my Troubles gone .
You could order as a package and be ahead ?

Yup, I hear you Two Time, many folks show up at the ranges where eTargets are being run and have trouble with the idea. But the simplest, cheapest tablet will work and those are pretty cheap.

The only requirement is that the device or tablet is WiFi capable. It doesn't need to be cellular capable, have lots of memory, or a big processor to just be able to run as a display for an eTarget. You don't need any of that if you don't intend to store or manipulate the data after your relay or match.

Some folks show up wanting to just shoot the match without a lesson in programming devices or messing with electronics or software things, we get that a lot. Other folks show up and they want to have all their data at the end of the day because they save all their targets, scores and such, we get that too.

I'm sure my household iPads were well over $1k each, but they have cellular and lots of memory so they are expensive, and to be honest not really meant for hard outdoor use. You have to baby them and keep them protected from hot/cold, and even dirt/rain if they have an unsealed keyboard.

There is some wisdom in keeping a very cheap tablet for use on the line. We have had folks get tired in the sun and get woozy when they stand up from the heat. They have accidentally backed up while collecting their gear/brass and stepped on their neighbor's iPads and phones, which can get expensive fast.

Phone works great, is easy to screen shot, I like the ipad for screen resolution and it works great. it is an old Ipad 2 refurb I got for like $75 and have been using for years. Great antenna in the ipad. I am mindful with any electronic device as to sun exposure. The Kindles work but the antenna on my older kindle was not as good as the ipad.
