shorted

Like others have said. How much more money would it cost you to have those counted? I bet it is more then the cost of the case or two you are misssing. Then you to account for the fact that the counter can make a mistake. Imagine the job of counting brass for 8 hours straight. I know I counted brass and made mistake counts when counting batches of 1000 and weighing them. If I am missing one case in a box of 100, it is roughly a dollar. I am not going to even bother about that dollar. Yes, they Will Replace it, but like Dusty and Donovan said, highly likely it will be the same lot. Now what good, will it do me? Matt

I said nothing about COUNTING. Looks to see if all holes in the box are FILLED. Much quicker, Jeez!

Wanna see some new Lapua crap?

This came out of a box of new 6 BR cases I set primers in to fireform to BRA.

Look .....

There's no bottom to the primer pocket. It blew out at fireform.

Quite a surprise when I tried to seat the next primer. Now I use it for a case to measure leade. What you are looking at is a seated bullet base up in the neck.

When you purchase Laupa 6mm Br Brass, you are purchasing 100 cases in 1-Blue Shipping Box. They would have to ship 2-boxes with the boxes assembled to hold 50 each based on what you are saying.

I guess if they are packing by weight, you still get the same amount of brass, just not the 100 cases. Light average you get 101 and heavy average and you get less.

I do weigh my powder when I get it, but in the container as I have a reasonably good feel for the weight of the empty container.

I have purchased Lapua ammo lately where all but one or two fit into the chamber of my rifle. I will need to some measurements on that ones that don't fit. The rifle in question is a No-Turn neck 6.5x47 Lapua. a $2.00 plus a cartridge it is a little disconcerning, but that is what pullet pullers were made for.

Over my own 20-years or so of using Lapua brass, it has been a repeated occurrence to open a box and often find defective brass and/or shortages (more defects then shortages for me). While I live with it, because I like Lapua brass that much, doesn't make it right.

Can't help but think if Lapua put 102 brass in each box, it could help "balance the scale" of the defective and shortage imbalance ratio, to getting 100 usable brass per box.

And while they are known to be good about sending out replacement brass, it is limited to Lot's they do it from, which makes replacement conjectural to our best interests - IMO.

My OS&D experiences have been with 220-Russian, 6BR, 243, and 260, with 6BR being the most probable.

And you don't think those two 50 round boxes are going to cost more? I bet it adds more then 4 dollars to a hundred and now you lose more then just a case. I am sure they are not going to give them for free. Matt

I'm still trying to figure out what holes he's talking about filling. wondering if he's ever seen a box of lapua brass

You are right. I mixed it up with the Peterson Brass I have been using since its availability. It has a proper place for every case, unlike the Lapua which is dumped unceremoniously in box that cannot be used at the bench with loaded rounds.

but the box CAN be used at the bench. they hold 50rds very nicely

VaRandy,

you probably haven't noticed that the Blue Laupa Plastic Boxes with 100 pieces of 6MM BR brass loosely placed in the box has a plastic piece in the top with 50 holes in it that snaps out of the top. Once the 100 pieces of brass has been dumped out of the bottom of the plastic box, the top Plastic Piece with the 50 holes can be placed into the bottom half making it a 50 round cartridge box.

Laupa makes a nice box that can be used for a while as a 50 round Cartridge carrier.

I must be living right, opened and primed 5 boxes of Lapua 6Br today and each box had 101 pieces. I can't remember ever being shorted but maybe I'm just lucky.

Brass came in from cabelas today and here are my observations 1.5 grain “es” between two boxes

"loosely placed". Dumped is more accurate. I am getting excited by Alpha nowadays.

I have 4 boxes from a while back; I know I counted one at 100 pcs. Don't remember if I counted the other 3.

Ordered 2 more from Midway, they each came with 101.
