Short case neck length.

Thank you all for you comments. I seat jam to about .010 off the lands depending on the bullet being used. Have got enough purchase on the rounds, as stated the accuracy is fine. Rather than throw them out now I wanted to get 2 or 3 more firings from these. Thanks oldduc for the picture and input.
Cheers

More area for a carbon ring to build up also.

true but that is what losso is for.

my carbon rings are usually in the throat and begining of the lands not the chamber.

most chambers have quite a bit of freebore past the end of the brass neck. with my borescope i really don't see a lot of carbon buildup there with typical cleaning.

To the OP. I would not worry much about it. Shoot them, hunt with them, keep your barrel clean as you normally would.

To the "carbon ring" crowd. Prove it. You are marketing speculation IMO.

I am testing a 22 BR improved +.050 and rented a 22 BR Remington Reamer to make it work properly. The reamer they sent was a 22 BR Norma/Lapua and I went ahead and sent the reamer in .050+ anyway knowing the necks would be excessively short but this bbl is temporary anyway. I have not changed my cleaning regimine and have seen only typical cabon foul, not a carbon ring. The original chamber did produce carbon rings. Accuracy is absolutely fine as well.

Not what I'd call ideal but its hard to argue with his/their results.

Hi Mike. Stan and I had a great time developing the WolfPup. There's a lot more about the case and it's development that the article just glossed over. There are more benefits to the short neck than are immediately apparent.

When we decided to go ahead with the project, PPG made a specific reamer for the project....we did not use a 30BR reamer run in deep. Chamber neck length was .105 or .020 longer than case neck length....same as any properly spec'd 30BR chamber.

Lots more that could be told about this case but I'll leave it at this. It was truly my pleasure to have worked with and traveled with Stan for many years. :) -Al

Good morning Al,
This Little Case Sure CHANGED A Lot Of MINDS About How Long NECKS Need To be. Pretty amazing!

Stan and I initially discussed doing this while on vacation with our wives. I had sketched out some preliminary dimensions on a napkin (true story) and extrapolated the case volume increase as the shoulder moved forward.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Mike. :)
