Short action stock question

Is it possible or feasible to open up a short action (manners) stock to accept a defiance medium action? I like their folding stock but it is only offered in sa and la.

It would be just easier to sell your medium action and get a long action, you can use all caliber that way

Yes, I’ve modified a sa stock for a medium length action. Kind of a PITA, but doable w/ epoxy as a filler for the excess space behind the recoil lug.

I retrofitted a Gunwerks stock to a defiance medium length action for a 300 WSM. It worked really well well in the end but it was a little bit of a pain, I’d do another for myself if needed I suppose. Recently milled out a Weatherby 307 action for the Wyatt’s Bainey box and that gets you a full 3.1” internal length, but is designed for standard sa calibers.

UNKNOWN MUNITIONS make a bottom metal for a SA that fits a n M5 inlet and uses their magazine, I believe it's a 3 round in a magnum. It's not quite flush but pretty close. I believe it's a center feed too. It's internal mag dimension is 3.150" I have one for my BAT Bumble Bee, it's a SA. What's the OAL of your SAUM load?

I don’t have loaded rounds yet, I have action and barrel blank just kind of getting a game plan. That is a good idea for bottom metal for sure .

I was just on Manners site they inlet for defiance XM actions it's at the bottom of the Defiance list of actions.

It’s the folder stock that I’m interested in that is only offered in sa la. I emailed them and ask if I could have it custom done and they responded they couldn’t do for a medium.

No XM is in-between a remington short and long action

I was thinking they were the same but also remembered a action they came out with that was a little longer than a short action but used the same footprint as a short action (mounting holes)

Here is email between their sales and me the other day but I do see xm on their inlet list same as you did
