Short action cartridge in a medium action?

Any experience using a short action cartridge in a medium length action? I have a saum build in process on an anti x medium but interested in getting a .308 bolt for it as well and using it with other barrels than my saum. Thoughts?

Your fine going that way. It gets hairy when you go the other way and shoot a longer cartridge in a shorter action.

A common example is a 284. Its called a medium action round, but is 100% a long action to be happy. I've done it.. I have a 284 in an xp100 action. Gotta pull the bolt to eject a live round. This was also thought out and on purpose though as its a handgun. But a good example.

My Tikka T3X is a long action and shoots a .223 round. It's very accurate. I wouldn't hesitate to use this action on a different round.

My wife's Savage 110FP is a factory long action chambered in 223 Rem.
Savage does make a follower for the 223 in a long action.

Personally, I find chambering from the magazine to be 50/50 at best.
And the 223 Rem in a long action a horrible idea!!
