Shopping For A Rifle

Nick, seriously? Is your keyboard broken? This is an online forum, not a text message. I have never said anything about grammar before on any forum, but that is ridiculous.

Kenny, nothing wrong with the keyboard. Thats how they talk in New Zealand.:) I can hear the NZ accent as I read the post. No disrespect to New Zealanders. They are some of the worlds finest soldiers (and the worlds 2nd best rugby players) who have fought alongside Australians since the Gallipoli campaign in 1915.
My advice for Izy. Don't let any one tell you that the .308 is 'too much gun' (with the exception of rabbits) and buy the best glass you can afford. You may want to look into the 'Lynx' brand of riflescopes. The professional series has some excellent value for money glass.

Moo.

Kenny, I would not suggest the .243 is a one gun solution. Deer is definitely the limit for game, but it can do that well out to 300 yards or so, with careful bullet selection. The 260 Remington is probably a better choice, but I suspect the original poster does not want to be the only one in Australia or NZ to own one.

I'm an old retired guy and just don't have the appetite for big gun recoil any longer. I shoot my .264 WM's, but very reluctantly, and would much rather put a few hundred rounds of .22 LR through my Savage BTVS.
