After three cut rifled barrels on my Dasher (Krieger 8, Bartlein 8.25-7.75 GT, Brux 8) I am testing a Super Match Pac-Nor. Of course it is button rifled . The other three barrels were chambered to have a .269 neck but this one has a no turn .272 neck. After fire forming some brass I tried some of my favorite loads with Varget and H4895 with several bullets. Although I could shoot a some very small groups, I could not get the consistency needed to win matches with it. I put it aside until a few days ago. After putting the barrel back on my BAT, I shot some of the loads left over from last month's match. These were all loaded in turned brass and I didn't expect too much from them. I was pleasantly surprised however when they shot into a dot.
With this in mind I loaded some "turned " brass to shoot today and tried two powders and two bullets. My first load was with 31.5 gr. of H4895 and 108 gr. Berger BT seated to jump about .005". The second load was from the left over batch that I used in a different barrel. It consisted of 32.8 gr. of Varget pushing Bart's 105 RBT. I shot these at 100 meters without wind flags. The temperature was warm and there was a fairly stiff tail wind. I used a 10X-50X Sightron set at 48X. Again the extra clearance in the neck did not seem to hinder accuracy at all. I will be testing further. James Mock
