SHOOTING SUPRESSOR VELOCITY CONSISTANCY

anyone test shooting suppressed vs a break for velocity consistency?
Getting a large extreme spread, 54 fps over 27 shots , 223 90 grain Bergers jammed .010".
N140 or H4895

I would not expect the presence or absence of a suppressor to markedly change the velocity statistics within a single string of fire, but stranger things have happened.

Having said that, it's important to be aware that a .223 Rem shooting heavies with powders such as H4895 is notorious for generating ES/SD values that will seem quite high in comparison to those obtained using other cartridges such as a .308 Win. I routinely observe ES values for .223 Rem F-TR loads with H4895 and 88-90 gr bullets that range from the upper teens to as much as the low 30s (fps) for 5-shot strings. Those numbers will increase noticeably for strings of 20 shots or more, although I would agree with the OP that 54 fps ES is higher than one might ideally want. In my hands, minimizing ES/SD with the rather small .223 Rem case loaded with heavies can be rather difficult and requires the utmost care and diligence in brass prep and the reloading process at pretty much every step. Unless there is some other data directly implicating the suppressor that the OP did not show, I wouldn't necessarily conclude the suppressor is the ultimate cause of the rather high ES/SD.

Not sure on velocity spreads; but when I put my suppressor on, my group tightens up. Shooting a 18” AR-15, 69gr SMK, varget, I will get a 1-1.25” 8 round group, put suppressor on and it will almost be a one hole group. First round high left, last round out of mag low, everything else is in one hole, or touching the group.

yes everything same . I haven’t tried without the suppressor yet.
The 54 FPS Extream spread ,27 shot string, all with the N140 powder.
Now I will say this string was over about 4 hours and temperature did increase probably about 20 degrees from the start of the readings to the finish.
Everything else was all the same.
I just wondered if anyone had tested suppressed vs break or no break and if it had an effect. I always am shooting suppressed. I do have a 6.5 twist, not a 7. It’s a bolt gun with 30” barrel , 350 round count chambered with a .250” neck, so I neck turn.
I don’t think the suppressor is the issue but never know. It is a thunderbeast ultra 7 . The N140 may not be ideal for my combination.
I’m testing N150 today and it looks promising. At the time I needed a barrel I couldn’t find any 7 twist. Most say that the 7 twist is best.
The chamber is done with a known reamer for the 90 grain bullets .
Thanks for any help.

My experience has been about the same as Paul. I'm shooting 18 inch 223 50g Nbts. Around 3100 non suppressed and 3120 suppressed. Groups at 100 seem slightly better. Haven't really paid much attention to Es.

Well I shot today with N150. Only loaded 6 rounds . Velocity spread was 11 fps. Average 2740 . At 24 grains of powder it shoots small there so I will run 36 rounds next match and see what I get. At this point I doubt the SUPRESSOR has any negative effect.

There was a Poi shift on my rifle. About 1 1/4 inch low right with the suppressor. But the 5 shot groups were a tighter
