Shooting some chucks

Took the day off work went to shoot some chucks just down the road. Took my 4 year old boy. He just played with rocks and used tall weeds as swords which kept him entertained while I managed to spit a couple Rock chucks. It wasn't as I'd hope for more shooting but I managed to shoot a couple. A few fat ones only one I wanted to climb the rocks to go find however. But here are a couple pictures of the morning.

I always enjoy getting out. I had to tell the 3yr old girl it'd be too much to have both of them in rattlesnake country. I can't wait for him to be responsible enough to shoot! As I enjoy taking others out deer hunting, I'll do the same with him for any adventure when he's older and the girls if they choose.

He enjoyed taking him wooden long gun and "shooting" them when I got prone haha
Also fun to see that big chuck launch a foot off the ground after getting hit. And the sound of the plop

What are the small rattle snakes called in Washington State? When I was in the Army we camped on the shore of the Columbia River close to the Hanover Nuc plant. We killed at least 10 small rattle snakes along the shore line. Are they a small species or just youngsters.

Yes they are western rattlesnakes. They are just a smaller species. I have seen them close to 4ft but typically I've seen 2-2.5 ft. Not really thick either. Nonetheless a rattlesnake I'd rather not get bit by, especially a youngster.

BTW that bridge (Vernita) is a dynamite salmon fishery in the fall. Quite a few fish and some real nice ones get pulled out of there
