I'm ready to wave the white flag; my three top choices for my new rifle are all unavailble in left handed configuration,at least in the USA, I'm getting conflicting reports on LH availability back in Europe)
Forgetting the various Steyr models for a moment, my two leading choices have been the Tikka T3 Tactical and the FN PBR XP,an upgrade to the standard PBR, with some features from the more expensive SPR line) I've checked out right handed models of both of these guns and was very impressed. Compared to my near new Rem 700 CDL,bought in December '05) the PBR and T3 are both a huge step up when it comes to 'fit + finish' and a remarkably solid feel that just inspires confidence in the gun.
So I'm actually considering the idea of buying a right handed rifle. But what would I be getting myself into in terms of possible problems? I would need to still shoot from my left shoulder, as I am "left-eyed." I know that spent casings will be ejected towards my face, but that is mostly under my control with a bolt action rifle.,unlike a semi, where it would be a real problem). I'm not too worried about learning how to operate the bolt with my right hand, as I do about half of all tasks right-handed anyway. But what else that I'm not thinking of might cause me problems when I try to shoot a right handed bolt gun with my left hand?
Anybody out there currently doing this? What have been your experiences? Thanks.
