Shooting Ranges in Texas

I moved here to Houston,actually Katy) in May of this year and immediatly joined Bayou Rifle and have been so glad to have the opportunity to participate in this outstanding club.
It was good to see David Gosnell coming up on this thread to tell you about our club. He is one of the best shooters that attends our 1000 yard matches and accounted for himself well at the F-class Nation championships as well.
We are a very active club and well atttended. Not only do we have a 1000 yard match the first Sunday of every month, we also have an altenately 300/600 yard match every third Sunday of the month and a High Power match every month. Heck we even have 5 Garand matches scheduled for 2008. I'll probably buy a Goarand just to spend more time on the range. Also we have a sceduled practice at 1000 yards every Tuesday and Friday. I show every Friday and there are at least 6 others that do.
Where in Texas are you ? It's fairly easy to get to the range. If you have any questions shoot me an email at drmac67@aol.com

I live in Plano, north of Dallas. I will definatley come to shoot in your matches, I'll just take a Monday off to drive back. What goes on there on Saturdays? Might as well make a weeked out of the trip.
It will be spring before I can make it. My rifle is being built right now and "should" be finished in February??? sent downpayment in June 6th???!!! Hopefully it takes a while for perfection??
It will take a while for break-in and load development and I will pick a weekend.
Are there some hotels near the range? I'm fairly familiar with the area. I used to come to Houston for the Spring Branch Lions Club Turkey Shoots every year. I had relatives there, it was a ball.
I will PM you for a phone number and we can coordinate the match date.

Buzzsaw, There is a range in Stephenville not that far from you. Do not know the name though. But a google search might turn it up. There is another range at Tomball e-mail Pete Pieper at www.precisionbarrelwork.com and he can provide details.

Thats an excellent shooting schedule down there at Bayou. Unfortunately, the Army surveyors have determined that part of the safety fan at Wolters now includes some of the adjacent property under TX parks & wildlife. Long story short, we are presently limited to .223 only from 200 to 500. The 600 to 1K lines are now offline, and the 6mm, 30 cal, etc, are presently not allowed. This may just through a hitch in the TSRA long range championships this spring. Maybe we'll have to come down to Houston,before it gets hot).
There is a Range in Breckenridge with steel from 25yds to 1250, Ridge Runners Gun Club, No RO, cheap yearly membership come and go as you please
There is also one in graham that has a LR Comp every month, have been to it once but dont remember what the name or where the hell it was at. You can contact Trammel gunsmithing in Breckenridge and he can point you to this one.
Tac-Pro, Gordon TX,off I-20) 1k range, has RO's and you cannot shoot the 1k without taking a class first, they offer a membership but its still $10 to shoot with it, $15 without,

There is a Range in Poolville north of Weatherford, its a yearly membership kinda thing, goes to 275 if I remember right.
