Shooting pistol from rest

Dude that bottom picture has ME wrote all over it. How smooth does that lab Jack work
I can’t find one that works smooth
It works really well. I had that for several years and never used it. It's all stainless and adjust very easily. I have 2 other high dollar rest, but use this one most of the time for load development. It's just so easy to use. On top of the lab jack, I glued a piece of rubber. It was very slick on the top and my little bag did not want to stay put. The piece of rubber took care of it.

What kind of groups, at what distance ?
What load do you recommend to start with.?

Very nice pistol on a Very nice rest.

I have a Freedom Arm in 44 like yours , and was wondering what’s possible if the stars align.:)

Thank you
Hal
I'll try to find groups but I'm not a group shooter kinda guy and when I do usually forget to take pictures.

Found a couple, A 5 shot and 10 shot at 50 yards with the 252. It really likes Lapua SLR after I tried it. I think the groups were SK Bia.

Here's the 22 at 350 yards.

While testing for stretching it out Chris Self made me a SS VGM mount with 5 settings to stretch it out to 500 yards.

The 44 I have an older picture of 10 shots on a Ram. The owner of Rayners, my Son and I all got 4 for 5 on a full size IPSC at 500 yards at his range. Another time Blackie Sleeve and I hit 4 for 5 at 500 yards on a smaller target at his farm/range with J.D. Jones watching. I can't remember how J.D. did, been too long. This was with 24gr of 4227 Hor 240gr XTPS.

If I find other photos I'll add them. From what I remember the most important thing was I used Federal brass and keeping them trimmed exact for consistent crimp made the biggest improvement in longrange accuracy. I liked the 4227, a smoother felt recoil over 296.

Thanks Topstrap.
I appreciate everything you share with us.
I remember a couple of video's of JD, Blackie, and Blackies wife shooting Randy's 6xc. Must have watched them 50 times.

Good times, all three are incredible shooters. Very honored to have been able to watch, shoot and learn from them. I can say the same for Randy, incredible shooter. He sure helped the Pistol longrange game grow and turned the ELR World on its ear with a World Record with a factory barreled 338 Savage.

Not very practical but for my testing purpose it does everything I wanted it to. Bipod, rear adjustable rest and stable as I'd guess possible with a revolver.

When I do shoot a more regular pistol off a rest it's usually jammed up against a bag against the trigger guard and possibly the barrel. Doesn't affect any accuracy that I've seen and most of my pistol shooting is farther than most.

Does shooting like that affect point of impact any? I am looking at how to improve my handgun testing.
