Shooting Clinic at Berger SW Nationals

Stay and shoot it all if there is any way possible. This is the best match of the year.

What Rick said. You won't regret it if you can pull it off.

Wind clinic is ridiculous cheap and a newbie couldn't ask for a better starting point. Great shooters will be at the firing points and help you with your position, form, and whatever you need or want to ask about.

Dean,

In the interest of accuracy I’ll fill in a few blanks. It was 2002 in Ottawa Canada during the first F-Class World Championships. The targets were a lot bigger than we use now and 30+ shooters fired all ‘V’ cleans on the 700 meter daily match.

So….we had to have a shoot off for the gold after the days firing was finished. Some people didn’t have enough ammo and others didn’t want to shoot but still a large number of us gluttons for punishment returned to the 700 meter line and commenced firing. If you dropped a ‘V’ you were out. To make it short, after a while I thought I was going to have to send Jim Murphy who was scoring me back to my car to get more ammo….I only took 125 rds to the line with me (I knew it was going to be long). It was also starting to get dark and I thought I was going to get to use my lighted reticle for the first time.

In the end it was just I and another shooter left. He was right handed and I left and since I was facing a way from him I had no idea who he was and was not about to look. After my 66th ‘V’ , Jim in his usual calm southern drawl said, you can relax, you won. I rolled over and saw it was the great Canadian shooter Keith Cunningham and he was shooting off a bipod. He had shot and finally missed the ‘V’ ring. Keith and his friend Linda miller later wrote a great book “The Wind Book For Rifle Shooters”. One of these days I’m going to read it.

That Dean is why I say you can never take too much ammo to a match.

If you shoot on Clinic Day you will also have good elevation dope on your rifle and some feel for windage as well.

Can't wait Scott. It'll be great to see you, Christine and family. I missed Nationals last year, but what I really missed was seeing/visiting with everybody. Shooting is addictive, but being around the best people in the world is just the icing on the cake.
