shooting chrony increased by 300 fps

Tested proven loads the other day and my shooting chrony ( Bout 7 years old ) increased the fps by 300.
Anyone ever experience anything like that before?
10 feet from end of barrel. Sunny, no wind day.
2 different 243's.

Yep, change it's position or try again on a different day.

If the sun was shining directly onto the lenses of the sensors (ie the sunlight was lot being modulated by the screens) that will play havoc with your readings. With my Shooting Chrony (when I had one - use an Oehler now) I would turn the unit 90º, using the tripod head with that feature, away from the sun direction and found that I almost never had issues.

Make sure it is folded completely open also, that sets the distance between screens.
