Shooting Bench

Here's shooting bench I made. It doesn't cost much to build and it works great P Dogging.

Portable Shooting Bench

Here is a drawing of the bench. You have to have the pads so the legs will fold flat. The pads need to be 1" thick. Mount the legs on them. Fold the legs on the small end first. I set the legs on the small end in about 31/4" from the edge. The drawing isn't to scale but the measurements are correct. You can put wooden dowel rods in the legs to make it level.
I used my bench three times out West Prairie Dog shooting last year (2000) and it worked just fine. It is easy and quick to setup. At home I use it as a table in my reloading shop. I use a camping chair that folds up for the seat. I bought it at a Target Store.

A bit of carpet or synthetic grass on the top helps stuff from rolling round and saves your elbows a bit

I like it, could be thrown into trunk of a car. I am going to build one off your plans, thanks for sharing!

Here's finished product from your plans, built today with 58 dollars worth of parts, 2 hours running around and build time plus 1 six pack with my shooting partner who supervised. Very nice! Thanks for the post of your plans, I had been wanting to build one, and this was the final push. We did modify by making front 21 inches wide as Sinclair rest is large.

hey that is a nice lookin bench, i might have missedit but how much does it way? is it very comfortable? my dad and i biult a stationary bench/table where i do my sighting in it is just cememt blocks stacked on top of each other it is very solid but not very comfortable. i seen 1 somewhere either on here or in a book but it was just 2x4's on edge and fastened together it too was staionary but looked like it would do the job. I have had ideas for biulding a bench that would attach to a reciever hitch on a truck but i have really no use for 1 but someone who lives near or likes to shoot pdogs i think it would work great. has anyone seen anyhting like this? sorry would all the talk, nice bench.

You can make the legs longer by inserting 1" dowels in the legs. I did this on mine. I drilled holes through the legs and the dowels 1" apart and put pens through them. A piece of 1X6 decking lumber is just right for the pads for the legs. It lets them fold up flat. I'll take a picture later today. Good job 40X. Yes you can buy the legs at Home Depot

jraney I put together a truck receiver mounted shooting rest, It turned out to be a fun project measured many styles of pick-ups and decided to make it adjustable. It's got a 24 in. top beveled on the back corners for right or left hand top easily adjusts up and down for elevation, and after sitting on the tailgate too long I made a foot rest that telescopes so your legs don't fall asleep. And you can pretty much adjust it from sitting on the tailgat. I built the frame of off receiver stock and it won't bend i've already got up and stood on the platform to see what would happen, and it made a nice high spot to watch from. I'll try to get some pic,s on here.
