I'm turning my .308 40X NRA rifle into a tactical rifle but nothing too fancy most shots will be around 600 some may be to 1000. I was given a Bushnell Elite and looks like it has 38 minutes of elevation by the 1/4 minute clicks that I counted. I bought a 20 MOA base with medium rings but seems to sit high and I don't like the cheek weld I get. What would be the best I could do shooting distance wise if I went with a regular base to help bring down the scope height? The medium rings seem o.k. although I'm thinking of going to low rings also. I'm going to put this in a Rem laminated stock and also thinking of a stick on pad to raise the cheek weld since the comb is not adjustable.
