Shipping reminder...

Many of us were caught off guard and pretty harshly affected by shipping delays last year. Most of the trouble started after Thanksgiving and continued well into this year. I'm posting this as a reminder that it might not be a bad idea to order things now rather than waiting for the shipping rush that is inevitable for the Christmas season. I'm trying my best to build up some inventory so I can hopefully avoid supply chain and shipping disruptions of supplies ahead of this but that doesn't fix getting products from me to you, or from other vendors to you. Just plan ahead as much as possible. I've had a very full plate for some time but things are getting better and I'm hoping to avoid some of the headaches of last year.

USPS still can't seem to get things right, in my experience. Have a small package that I sent a month ago that's made it across country a couple of times, after they claimed they couldn't find the address. Still hasn't gotten delivered or made it back to me. (Not hardly the lone example of such "oops" attempts, this past 18mos either.)

As you say, it's worth sending anything well in advance, these days. You never know what you're gonna get.

You might fine this funny or sad depending on where you stand. We have a daughter and son in law and four grand children living 1/4 mile north of us. I wave to them as they pass daily and our daughter convenently looks down or shades her eyes but never waves back. This started perhaps four years ago. If they have birthday parties we aren’t invited. We send them a birthday card on their birthdays and at that time about four years ago I found two cards returned to my mailbox with a note attached “We don’t need your birthday cards or your money”. It cost me $200.00 for the lawyer but they are now persona non grata In the will. I’d like to be alive when they read that.

I'm sorry to hear that. I no longer have a sister that I have anything to do with. There's nothing good about a situation like that but it is what it is! Money is the root of all evil and greed is ugly. We had a rough relationship for a long time, then Dad died without record of a will. She disowned him roughly 16 years before he died. She didn't come to the hospital or his funeral, but she had her hand out further than anyone else when she found out she would benefit by there not being a locatable will. Actually, we had mended some of those fences about a month before he died. Then the green monster came out and I will not go back to trying to have a relationship with her under any circumstances. Just a really ugly story and I hate that it came down to this. When I die, it will go anywhere but to her. I'm getting ready to put it in writing, too.

Sorry, but it is love of money ..............

I’m going “Bahhumbug” to gifts, this year! Envelopes of cash avoid the “it’s the wrong size” thing! All the little rug rats want the newest video game and I don’t have a clue!
Been doing the cash thing for about two years, kids are 22 and 25. Not a single “return” yet!

Back on topic, my brother-in-law drives delivery for Fedex. You wouldn't believe the horror stories I hear about staffing and workforce quality. They're extremely shorthanded, and even when they find someone to hire they're gone in a few weeks because they discover they're actually expected to show up on time and work hard. Seems people in their twenties and thirties have been taught that they are all precious individuals and money grows on trees. Apparently mom's basement is always there to backstop them. I know several guys near my age with adult children living at home with no jobs.

PS Fedex stock price nosedived recently when the company revealed the extent of their staffing shortfall and delivery woes.

That stuff I can understand. Well, sort of. OK not really, but I digress.

What I don't get is this: The last three FedEx packages I had delivered were all boxes of primers (at different times.) All three had a delivery date shortly after the FedEx pickup (a week or so?) All three were moved up by one day each on two consecutive days as the package progressed. Great, they're arriving early. Being Hazmat, they required an adult signature, and were ineligible to reroute to a different location; couldn't even have them held at a FedEx hub. So I took vacation from work to sign for them. The first two end up delaying by a day, then two, one of them by 5 days (this while status shows out for delivery.) The last one I decided to wait until they tried to deliver and take the next day off to receive it. Apparently, I don't know how to spell my own name. The package had been signed for and was waiting on the porch when I got home several hours later (along with a second package from a different carrier that was for the house a quarter mile further up my street - and I'm in an urban area.)

If they'd improve their tracking system so that I could actually plan around the status, I'd be happy. Instead they'll put any info in there that keeps them from looking bad.

I tried to plan ahead but now that the season is about over it doesn't matter quite so much.
I guess I don't need to worry about the Christmas shipping rush !

All my Amazon shipments have been a day early. Everytime I order. I'm not worried about Christmas, not buying a thing for anyone. I may buy myself powder, bullets, and primers....when they get here, they get here....I'm pretty well stocked! Back on topic...
