Shipping insurance

Just wanted to get some ideas on who should pay the shiping insurance on a item, ? seller or buyer. My thinking
would be the seller because they have recieved the funds for the item then it is shipped cost is not that much
extra

I've done it both ways. The beauty of this forum and other markets is that it is a great example of capitalism. A person has a product or service he or she offers for a price. Others who value that product or service come to agreement on the terms and the transaction is consummated. If what is offered is not considered reasonable either counter offers are made or no offers are made and the seller may choose to change the terms of the offer. It works. We don't need anymore rules in my opinion.

Seller, since the seller/shipper is the ONLY person who can claim against insurance via USPS and UPS (assume FEDEX is the same). Theory is that until there is acceptance, the parcel still belongs to the shipper.

Still not keeping the person that is buying it from paying for INS. As far as it being cheap, what is cheap. I received a custom rifle packed in a padded soft case, packed in a hard case and with INS. on this expensive rifle was a pretty healthy bill.

As the seller, I pay the cost of insurance but my shipping charges for the sale include shipping, handling and insurance. I expect to pay the seller for insurance, handling and shipping charges if I'm the buyer.

This sums it up for me. it's why I always post my prices as shipped

I figure the cost of shipping plus insurance in the asking price of the item. The buyer is given the choice of how they want it shipped, USPS, FedEx or UPS. I will not ship anything without full value insurance.
