A few things Jonathan:

1 - The link doesn't work.

2 - In the "rules" there are three sections. General, short range and long range. Looking at the score from previous matches, they're all 100, 200 and 320 yards, aka short range. Are there no long range matches or are the scores not posted? The great thing about the original Shippensburg match was the 200, 300 and 500 yards separated the men from the boys and didn't cater to the IBS point blank crowd.

Dave,

My feelings exactly. If you don't shoot a 30BR you might as well stay home. That's the way IBS Score Matches have gone.
The long range match rules state 10 rounds at 500 and ten rounds at 800. I've never seen any scores for the long range either.

1 Thanks for pointing out the link didn't work. It has been corrected now.
2 We do shoot the long range match however we have not had a lot of participation in it this year so I have elected to not take up any space on the website or extra time of the guy that updates the website until the matches are over then I will put up the years worth. I would love to have as many shooters shoot the long range as shoot the short range but it's not at that point yet. Personally I would just rather shoot the long range and not the short range. I can tell you that the leader in the custom class at 800 has a 5-7/8" group and at 540 it's 3-3/4" group
3. That's great advice

Unfortunately there will not be any food. I tried bringing food a couple times earlier this year and very little was eaten so I decided it's not worth my extra effort.

As to the "Men from the Boys" comment there are no men but for the boys. This is clearly one of the reasons why the short range matches exist. Long range is for the bold and strong who can suffer the pain of being humbled by their lack of skill which we all have had at our beginnings. For the survival of any sport the newbie's usually have to be coaxed to step into new waters, so it is with long range competitive shooting.

I'll drive up and visit next year for a long range match if you have them. Do you have any pics of the targets used for the long range?

Terry I have some pics but they do not really show the size of it real well, nothing to compare it to. I can tell you that the 6 ring on the 540 target is ~5" and at 800 it's ~8".
Hope this helps

Pics of the long range and hunter class targets thanks to sniperjwt who runs the match pretty much single handed. Well done Jonathan.... Ship540.jpg Ship800.jpg ShipHunter.jpg
