Shilen triggers vs ???

Looking for a trigger for my 338 build. Looking for 1.5 - 2 lbs. Not interested in ounces. Going on a Stiller action. A few options out there. I own Shilen triggers now and like them but looking for some basic reviews of other options as well as
Opinions. Jewell is what I expect to get a bunch of feedback on and it's what I'm considering. Never owned one so am interested in comparisons.

I have owned Shilen, Jewell, and Timney - I prefer the Timney over the other two because of the Timneys wider trigger blade and very positive safety that gets rid of the problem of the factory trigger safety issue.
The Shilen has a narrow trigger blade with sharp edges on it and just doesn't feel as good to me. The Timney and Shilen are both in the same price range, around $125, either will easily adjust to your specified weight range.

The Jewell will run around $225, it too has a narrow trigger blade. Its biggest advantage is that it is easily adjustable without removing the action from the stock. The downside to them is they are more fragile then the Shilen and Timney, a blanked primer can lock them up so they are not usable and in a dusty enviroment they are prone to getting "gritty". I shot them in my competition rifles for years and while they are no doubt a great trigger for that I am not sure that I would use one on a back-country hunting rifle.

May want to check out Triggertech. Put a Primary trigger in a Rem. 700. Very crisp, no noticeable creep. Mine adjusted down to a repeatable and safe 1 1/4 lbs. Easily adjustable w/o removing the barreled action from the stock. Primary and Special models are available w/o a bolt release but may need to order direct from manufacturer.

PS: It appears that Midway stocks a Primary model w/o the bolt release.

The BIXn Andy Tac Sport is another 700 trigger out that’s getting great reviews. Sponsor Bullet Central sells them, and you can buy different shoes for them. A little while back he had a promotion of giving you a free shoe choice installed, you might see if you could still talk him into that.

With the pull weight that you are looking for, Shilen. I have several Shilens, Jewells, and a few Timineys, but for a hunting rifle I like the Shilen.

This may sound real old school but I use trigger shoes on all my thin triggers. The original Remington triggers are nice wide triggers. Those are the profile I prefer.

Jewel. I was a top gunsmith asked, If could not use a Jewel. what would use. He said a "Jewel". You can get a Remington type safety or a bottom safety.

Width of trigger shoe of TT Primary trigger is .26 inches.
My trigger shoes are about 3/8" wide.

I prefer shoes on my thin Jewells as well. Mine are approximately .480" wide.

I’ve used a couple of Shilens but most recently have been using triggertech. Hands down prefer the triggertech. They are simply amazing.

Funny you say that. My preference has also been Shilen in my hunting rifles. Recently tho, my gunsmith has been installing triggertech triggers in guns and told me how nice they were. I happened to be over his place last weekend and he had one on a 22-250 and it was very nice. Looked easy to adjust as well. Trigger seemed wider also. I liked everything about it. I will pick one up for my next rifle
