Kudos to the fine folks at Shilen for today's swap meet! Great turnout, and in comparison to the weather that's been lately and is coming up, a perfectly nice, breezy, cool day. I hauled up a bunch of no longer used/needed stuff that was taking up room I could (and will!) put to better use, and came home with a few bucks in my pocket. Plus got to talk to some genuinely nice people. All in all, so much better than a gun show with unrealistic sellers making unrealistic claims about what they are selling and lookie-loo buyers who were just looking fort a way to get out of the house and avoid chores.

I went with my shooting buddy. He found a new Shilen varmint 223 barrel, 26" 1:7 1/2, for a short action Howa for $220. When they rolled out a large cart of Shilen barrels, it was swarmed immediately! They were running the bore drilling and rifling machines. Really interesting to watch and the operators were explaining the processes and answering questions. Saw the heat treating area used for stress relieving after rifling. Then saw the inspection area with a guy there explaining and demonstrating that process. It was a fun experience and will go next year again!
