Don't know. Couldn't get any cartridges to chamber.

They shoot way better on average than a factory barrel. What kind of gun are you thinking of putting it on.

Steve, that was good. I should have put I cant get it to chamber. What is wrong?

I got a smoking deal on a Shilen short chambered #3 270 Win. for a Rem 700. Some smiths wont touch them, others will. So I was just wondering.
For what I'm wanting, I hope it will be alright. I will be really happy with 3/4" 3 shot groups @ 100yds.

I bought a used Shilen prefit, large shank, 30" barrel for my Savage F-TR rifle. It shot great and continues to do so. As long as the final chambering is done correctly, it should be just fine.

I got into the long range bench rest game with a home built gun based on a Savage PTA and a 243 WIN Shilen pre-fit 28" barrel.
It took me through it's life before I could out-shoot it!
It has 2500 rounds through it and it can still shoot competitive groups in the right hands.
