Shilen Ratchet Rifling

I plan on re-barreling a 6BR for heavy bullets with a 1:8 twist Shilen. I'd appreciate some opinions on Shilens 4 groove ratchet 6mm barrel vs. their standard 6 groove.....both in 1:8 twist. Thanks, Howard

My smith says 2 weeks for my completed rifle. It's his first 6BR Shilen Ratchet in 8 twist so he has no info other than his 22 Ratchet barreled target rifles are excellent. I have everything ready to go and will post my results as soon as I get it to the range. Starting with Lapua brass, 107 SMKs and Shooters World Precision powder. Have H4895, RL 15 and several others in the wings should the SW not work out.

My son has one in a 6mm rem ai it shoots good I have a dasher in a 6 grove I like the 6 myself both are good he had a 6 grove 6.5_06 he rebarreld it in a 4 grove he had to add more powder to the 4 grove to get the same speed as the 6 grove

Can't go wrong with any Shilen ratchet barrels, they shoot. The Hulls support our state junior high power program with 224 CF 7.5T SS Ratchet barrels for the kids' AR15s.

Our record setting adult high power state team shooters also shoot the same barrels, and they get support barrels from Shilen as well.

OP, not mean to load up your thread, hope you don't mind. With the Shilen support to our shooting community, I take every opportunity to let others know.
