what would you need if anything to rebarrel my shile DGA action.it is a 22 br now.would like to go to a 6mm bra with a 14 twist barrel at 24 inches in length and a number 6 shilen contour.

Need Shilen DGS Action barrel tenon specs

I need to rebarrel a Shilen DGA action that does not have an old barrel with it for me to go from . I was hoping someone on this forum would know what thread the action uses and the length and diameter of the tenon ? Thanks, Rodney

another question would like to use this action on a light varmint class.it sports a brown thumb hole fiberglass stock also now.it is a heavy varmint class as it sits now

Maddysdad: Shilen DGA barrel tenons are 1-1/16-18. The tenon length is .980"* for a flat bolt face. There are many good 'smiths that can accomodate your rebarreling. Don't try screwing a Savage prefit barrel into your action....the threads are different.

*They were available in both flat and coned bolt so that spec. will be different between the two.

Takes Savage prefits.

Small shank Savage tenons are 1-1/16-20.
Large shank Savage tenons are 1-1/8-20.

It may be tough to make weight in this configuration. The DGA is a heavy action. 24" barrel not an option.
