Shilen competition trigger in M 700

I ordered a new Shilen trigger for my M 700 receiver which is new with the new style X-Mark Pro trigger. I am told that I have to buy the safety to make the bolt stop work with the Shilen. I ordered the bolt stop along with the trigger. Do I also have to buy the safety?
Thanks, John

According to the tech at Brownell's, I need the safety to attach the bolt stop to the Shilen trigger.

The Shilen competition model has no provisions for a safety. Their (Shilens') standard trigger does have provisions for the safety. The competition model is adjustable from 2 to 6 oz. The std. model is adjustable from 1 1/2 to 3lbs. The bolt stop attaches to the action. The bolt stop release attaches to the trigger housing.

My intention was not to use a safety for this particular rifle since it is a single shot and the open bolt (or removed bolt) makes it safe. I just was a little confused by the Brownell's fine print regarding the new Remington M 700s. Then, when I called the Brownell's phone number and the tech told me I had to buy the safety in order to have a bolt stop, I got a little concerned.

Your bolt stop will work, but the release on the bottom of the trigger won't. Just keep a small screwdriver handy to reach in and push on the bolt release if you have problem.

My trigger arrived and I had some help putting it in and it is a lot lighter than the Remington trigger. It will take some to get used to.
