installing a shilen trigger

I saw on the shillen web site that you have to buy a safety and bolt release kit if you are replacing a X mark new style trigger but I have not seen these listed in brownells or midway or even shillen. Has any one purchased one of these? RW

The only reason you have to buy a kit ,is the xmark pro safety is nothing like the old style safety. Now if you or someone you know has an original remmy trigger, you can use that factory safety and fit it to the new timney.

I believe Rifle Basix makes the old style safety. The whole kit (safety, ball, spring, & retainer clip) is available from Brownells and probably MidWay.

Ise now I thought it was something just specific for a shilen. But I forgot to add that I was looking for a left handed trigger so that really throws a wrench into things! the old left handed curse. I Hate to buy a old style trigger just for the safety. Any suggestions? RW

I don't think any of Shilens' triggers are made with the "mirror image" for left handers like Remington makes for their left hand models.

A new lefthand Jewell trigger w/the bolt release and safety installed will solve your problem. Larry

I don't bother with the safety and I release the bolt latch with my pocket knife or a piece of stiff wire.

Hey RW,,, I made a mistake! (how often do you hear that these days?!) I just installed a Shilen trigger this morning. All it takes is the safety lever, spring and bolt release from a left hand Remington trigger (and the ball, & e-clip from either R or L). The darned thing's made to work either right or left handed with the proper lever, of course.

Shortgrass, You made my day!!! Thank You for the info That will make my life a lot simpler with that as I have right handed friends who realy like the shilen triggers! Thanks Again, RW
