Shilen action scope bases

I'm looking for a couple scope bases for the older Shilen DGA rifles. I currently have a set of Conetrol bases and rings on both rifles and I have never been very happy with them. I'm upgrading scopes and figured I would do bases and rings as well. In my basic research the only factory bases I can find are Conetrol or Weaver. Seems like someone else would have made bases for these actions but I'm not finding them and I have a typical married guy with kids budget so $500 jobs are out of my budget. If anyone has any pointers I'd appreciate it.

McLee,

I have a Picatinny rail for the DGV that is probably the same as the DGA. If you're interested I'll dig it out (if I can remember where it is! ::)) I'd probably want $35/shipped for it. Let me know.

Kelbly makes two-piece bases for the older DGA action, two-piece base #3 in their list:

McLee,

I found the base and screws. $35 shipped via USPS Priority Small Box; USPS MO preferred. Let me know.

Lee,

If the base doesn't fit your action, and you feel you can't adapt it like we PM'd, feel free to back out. No harm no foul.

Happy New Year to all!

In fact I have a set of the Talley aluminum one piece rings/bases 30mm that were on mine when I got it if that would work
For you

Just to be clear the old dga made by shilen is different than the current outsourced dga/dgv

Weaver 61 bases , front and back, I just purchased two steel 61 bases, looks great on it.

Dusty, or Steve, or whoever,

I realize it's been a while since your reply, but how would I know old vs new DGA action? Email to Shilen is unanswered after c. 2 weeks.

Just picked this rifle up a few weeks ago. It's a 4 digit serial # on, I believe, a complete Shilen DGA rifle. The barrel is marked 7-308 so it may predate when Rem introduced the 7-08. Flat top action. Single shot if it matters. Same deal as OP with those pesky, fiddly Conetrol rings that are too low for the scope I wish to mount.

No pics. My camera is on the fritz.

Will check for availability of weaver 61s & Tikka T3X bases, but hesitate to buy if there's a question of fit.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks Al. It's not round, but measures about 1.340" wide where the flat sides meet the stock.

I got impatient & took the whole mess back apart. The LGS had only one Weaver #61, but the screw spacing was right. He did have Leupold bases for a Tikka & matching rings complete for less than the price of one Conetrol ring. A whole lot less fiddly too. Got it on paper today. With scrap brass it really wants to shoot a load that I just picked out of my... er... thin air. Life is good.
