Shaw barrels

Don't know about the A&B barrels.
About 3 or 4 years ago I had my XP 100 pistol rebarreled by E.R. Shaw with a 15" heavy .221 Fireball chamber. It had a "long" throat but that fact didn't seem to make any difference because I could hit steele at 330 yards, "every time"! Cleaned real easy and looked beautiful.
About a year ago I wanted to have it rebarreled with a 24" heavy to convert it into a rifle. So I talked to E.R. Shaw because of the super job they had done on the pistol.
I asked for a "short throat" chamber in .221 Fireball.
I was informed that they did not do short throated chambers because of some legal "mumbo jumbo" and that they would "only" throat to SAMMI specs! I crossed them off my list. ;) Ordered a Shilen with a real short throat! :D
Can't see any problems if it is chambered by a smith that will throat it the way you want it!

I had my 03A3 Springfield rebarreled by the in the 80's. I actually used them because they were the cheapest at the time and my Springfield was slinging them. I was satisfied and would have no problems using them again. Understanding that you get what you pay for.

I chambered one in 17M4 and it shot sub MOA, another in 223Ack way sub MOA, another one on my 300 whisper upper shoots just sub MOA...I think they are pretty good barrels even before you factor in the cost.

Last year I built a 7mm Rem mag on a Remy action, Used a 1.25" Shaw fluted barrel that is 28" finished. This gun will shoot five shots in the .4's and 10 around the .6's, and 15 rounds were right at .750 which you might say thats not bad, but its good as it was 15 straight rounds in less than 10 minutes. This might have been a mistake but just had to know how much it would open up when it gets reallly really hot.
Would I use a shaw barrel again? yes but I will not wait 16 weeks to get another barrel, brownells has shilen and douglas in stock at cheaper prices than the shaw with a dealer discount.

Build list
Remy ADL synthetic Mag action
Shaw fluted 1.25" barrel
Choate stock till I could afford the holland which is sitting in the closet.
.500 recoil lug, do not remember who makes it.
Jewell trigger on it now, had a Jard at first.
I had the action work and barrel installed by Garlan Gilbreath at GGG gunsmithing in Stephenville TX,

Will have to get some pics up when I get around to putting it in the Holland laminated stock. but right now just started building a 6x284 so the 7mm is on the burner.

If I ever get around to putting the holland on it it will go for sale. But might need it on my 6.5x284 project since Richards sent me a stock Inletted for a Mauser not a Remington 700. They say it will be 6-8 weeks on the stock and the barrel is supposed to take 5 weeks both from today. I have the green stock also, wish I could keep the buttstock off the green one and forend off the black one, the green forend is crap off a sinclair rest. But the back is kinda adjustable where the rear of the black stock rides the rest like a champ but the rear is not adjustable.
They are $135 +shipping from brownells so its good to have one around for checking accuracy.
