Shattered scope with compressed air

Assuming he is upfront on how it was damaged would one expect NF to warranty this ? I wouldn't but have been pleasantly surprised by Swaro for replacing a smashed scope lens.
I hate the thought of grinding dirt into my lenses by rubbing them but I never thought about blasting with compressed air. Thanks for sharing.

He actually is fully prepared to tell them exactly what happened and pay for any repairs. He makes no assumption that it should be a warranty repair in any way.

I had an unpleasant experience with Niteforce repair about 12 years ago. I was on a PDog shoot in Wyoming. Shooting off a Bench a micro burst came in and knocked my rifle off the bench. The sunscreen tube bent bad enough I couldn't get it off. Shot the rest of the day and the scope tracked fine. I sent it in and was charged $700!!!!. I dropped a pair of Vortex binoculars on a rock and broke the ocular lens. Sent them in, no charge!!!

A few years back the manual ZF transmission on my farm truck started leaking on a long road trip.
Couldn't get the level check plug out.

In desperation I stopped at the nearest WalMart and bought a can of air. Inverted, sprayed directly on the fill plug for several seconds and it came right out.

The stuff will frostbite skin instantly when inverted.

Visit a photography store and ask about tools and materials for cleaning lenses. I was into photography a while ago and cleaning lenses correctly was paramount. Especially out and about in the outdoors (racing photos mainly) where many things get on lenses. Try getting rubber dust/particles off your lenses at the starting line for drag races. Not to mention fuel vapors. Do not rub lenses in a circular motion.

A friend of mine, his wife blew the back glass out of their car when she hit it with the garden hose try to spray off bird poop on a hot summer day. They was cleaning glass out of that car for months....

and you always hear the stories about people trying to melt ice off their window with boiling water and that doesn’t go well either.

Beating on the windshield from inside to break ice loose doesn't go well, either. Can you guess what model car I was driving?

I would be interested to see if they warranty that, this is a cut and paste from the Nightforce manual.

Do NOT use high-pressure compressed air from cans (such as found in office supply stores). They can, and have, been known to destroy lens coatings.

You would expect that because they specifically say no canned air that they would also say no warranty, but you never know, some companies will warranty our mistakes too.
