SG&Y F Class Stock

Looking for feedbacks on Speedy's F Class stock, any one tried it or have one that can provide Pro& Cons? Thanks in advance

Jerry Tierney,JerryHM on the forum) has one of the first generation. He says its the best-tracking stock he's ever tried.

There were quite a few of these stocks at the F-Class nationals as well as the Robertson F-Class which has a radius instead of flat in the rear and a more vertical pistol grip. The gray stock on the home page is the Robertson F-Class. The Speedy stock is more angular and has "Buick vents" in the forearm.

Here are some pics of my Speedy F-Class stock, well actually Speedy built rifle. I just got her back from getting a Kav paint job. He is an artist and a craftsman!!!

The stock does track exceptionally well, and, IMO, works both for F-Class and off the bench for long range BR.

The only change I have suggested to Speedy is to slightly alter the geometry of the adjustable cheekpiece. My suggestion was to have the front of the cheekpiece come straight up instead of canting forward like it does. Due to this cant, when it is raised, the bolt will hit the cheekpiece. If it came straight up, the bolt would not travel far enough rearward to hit the cheekpiece. Other than that change, I could not be happier with the stock!! :D

Just click on the pics and they will get bigger. For extreme detail, click on the pic again and it will get huge.

Thanks for the pics, that is one beautiful rifle and great photographing. I can really see all the lines and details. It looks like both the cheek piece and butt pad are adjustable. any other feature I overlooked ?

One more question, are these 2 different design of stocks the SG&Y offer by Robertson and the one you can get from SG&Y?
They sure look identical to my untrained eyes.

Thanks :D Yes, both are adjustable. Further, the butt pad is adjustable for both height and cant, so when shooting prone it can be set to fit perfectly.

The SG&Y is made by Robertsons, but I don't know if Robertsons sells them direct, or only through Speedy. I bought mine from Speedy as he was doing the smithing anyway. Both of the stocks pictured above are identical, and both came from Speedy.

Don't hesitate to just call either SG&Y or Ian Robertson as both are good to talk to, and offer good info and suggestions.

Yes, I have spoke to both on numerous occasion, I find both guys are very helpful. I have a MBR on my 284, have had it for about 8 years and I love it, I want some thing different for my current project, I believe the Speedy stock is just what I need .

I really like the Speedy stock, and it is very comfortable if you free-recoil or just leave your thumb pointed forward on the side.

But if you grip, I really don't like all the angles and facets in the wrist/tang area. The are styling artifacts that serve no purpose. I don't like the feel of the bumps and sharp edges under my thumb/palm.

Compare this one-off stock by David Thompson. it is the most comfortable BR stock I've ever tried. It literally conforms to the hand and naturally places the thumb in the middle of the stock, right behind the bolt.

I have the Speedy Stock on my BAT F-Class 6.5 x 284. It really tracks well....Plus Speedy is a great guy to do business with...

I saw that and thought about what you just mentioned and for that reason, I'm contemplating having the grip area textured like you find on the MBR.

Yo is right on when he talks about the grip area. I have A SPeedy G F-class stock and its about my only gripe.

Stocks are cured correctly and won't shrink up over time like another name stock that many people use.

If you go with Robertson Composite I am sure you'll be happy!

RHINOUT!

 I have a Robertson F Class on order to replace my MBR type on my 6.5-284. It ain't cheap - but having seen one at the Missouri State
match and doing some research on them, I decided I had to have one. They are a well made and thought out design, and I want to
try the adjustment features out for 1,000 yard BR. Aways looking :comp:
for a little edge. I have a Lee Six Thumb Hole stock that I am sure is a
better hand/thumb fit, but all things considered I am looking forward to
trying the new stock out on 1 K BR next April.

You guys talk me in to it.......and I got one ordered, $800 plus change, I hopre it's worth it.

I don't seem to be bothered by the grip angles, hardly notice them when in position.

You will be happy with her. What color/s did you order??
