Setting up a gun range!

Talking to my cousin and his wife, the decision to build a range was finalized. A little work on Google earth, I picked the site and started clearing the land. Minimal tree removal for the first phase.

125 yards opened up. Next push goes thru the trees to 200.

Is it a publc range? Do you need to create an LLC so you cannot be personally sued for any accidents or damage? Do you need insuranace?

I would bet that you didn't have any trouble finding a solid place to set up the bench.
Nope! What surprised me was an area of ACTUAL topsoil! It’s 50 feet to the left of the target, about 200 feet long and 50-75 feel wide. Real bottom land. What’s under the bench is what they call collece. Pulverized limestone with rocks mixed in. It’s solid stuff! Do you see any ruts from the tractor? ;)

It looks like you have the sun in your favor (based on the shadows) if you are at the firing point).

very nice!! I am jealous to be sure. I was going to suggest finding some piano stools with screw adjustments for seats or fab your own...

Very Impressive Josh. It really is nice to have your own range and be just a hop, skip and jump from the reloading bench to the shooting bench. Makes load development easy and when you get up in the morning and there is not a breath of wind go shoot your one hole group.

Josh it’s really nice to have a place to shoot, I shoot on my Brother in laws property, someone has to replace plywood on the pistol range every couple of years, I’m the only rifle shooter so most of the time my target backers go unmolested:).
This one I can slide a 2’x2’x1/2” thick board up then down to the track, simple removal when headed home.
Metal Post on the sides behind the 5/8” plywood, as stated i‘m the only rifle shooter so the metal doesn’t get shot:)
Water from the river does flood the area, so there are times I’m without a range for 6 months.
Simple idea bring your targets prepared and take them home to measure.
