Serria 80 gr. .223

Can't find the bullets I want. What about 80 gr Serria. They seem to be available. How come nobody ever talks about them? Only 3 grns above the 77's. Are they that bad?

Depends on what you intend to do. The 80 SMKs are meant to be loaded for single round loading, meaning long and not to fit in the magasine, unlike the 77s, loaded to 2.250 range are just fine. Most people tend to use the 80 variety in slow fire prone at 600 yards

Then you will like them a lot more than the 77gr SMK. The Sierra 80 Match Kings fly really well and are easy to find a good load with.

I shot a world record a few yrs back using the Sierra 80 grain MK in a 22 Dasher. Won a many matches as well using them.

I was mis shipped some 80s and didn't catch it because they're packaged in the same white box as the 500 round 77s.

So I loaded and shot them. They are pretty impressive. At 1000 yards I trimmed off 1.4 Mils in elevation compared to the 77s.

Here's why they're always available. They're loaded way beyond mag length because they have a more VLDish ogive. 77 smk left, 80 smk right.
