Savage question on stoney point 80 smk and berger 80 vld measurments

I am checking my chamber to determine oal max. I am using the hornady stoney point tool. This rifle is a Savage Model 12 F TR .223 target single shot rifle. I have never fired hand loads in this rifle. I have been using Black Hills and Federal GM 77gr SMK Ammo only. I am getting ready to make my first loads.

I have these bullets & measurments

77 gr SMK. - 2.970
80 gr SMK. - 2.995
80 Berger VLD - 2.945

I also have some factory Federal 80 gr SMK (XM223M1) ammo that chambers fine (never fired in this gun yet but doing this as part of test) and determine if this factory ammo could be used if I chose to. This measures between 2.995 and 3.000

This exercise is to determine my rifles max COAL with a 80 gr Berger and 80 gr SMK and determine if they will fit the rifle, then start working up loads. I have some inventory of 77 gr SMK's which i planned to shoot 100 - 300 yds and I would like to now have loads for the 80's as well as the 77's.

See if I have this straight.
1. The factory Federal ammo would be firing touching the lands
2. All three bullets can be loaded in this rifles chamber. (All starting off the lands @ reduced load)

Am I correct? Thanks

I used the incorrect term. I did in fact measure CBTO with my calipers. And I pulled the SMK 80 gr from the factory loaded ammo for the stoney point measurement of CBTO.

Now back to digesting your informative response.
