Sloughhouse Benchrest Shooters held a Chabot Special 200 YD match Saturday at Sac Valley Shooting Center.
We had a nice turnout with 13 shooters enjoying a beautiful morning, temps starting in the low 60's climbing to the low 80's by the time we wrapped it up @ 12:00
The winds started out mild for the Ione Triangle mostly out of the SW conditions that were welcome considering the conditions earlier in the week on Tuesday when they had a bunch of the roads shut down leaving the range do to the fires in the area. Thankfully those were contained (big shout out to the Cal Fire boys and all the local FD's as well) so it was business as usual for the match.
The match started with one of our long time regulars Francis Lee steering his 30 BR to a nice 155 just edging out Ron Pepper who came out to shoot his 30BR with us after a long hiatus. Ron got his revenge by winning the group agg with a nice .545 beating Jeff Rodriguez who was second with a .599.
Target 2 Score was again won by Francis with another 155 beating out George Palms who was 2nd at 153. George took the group agg running away with a smoking .461 agg which was our only sub 1/2" agg of the day, I was a distant 2nd with a .700.
The winds remained pretty consistent, but mirage was starting to rear it's ugly head as the morning progressed
Target 3 Score was won by Jeff with a smooth 153 just beating out Lane Buxton with a 152. I took the group agg with a .754, and new (to us) shooter Huiyan Yu shooting his 6GT off bipod took 2nd with a nice .853.
Target 4 Score was won by Lane with a 155 just edging out Bill Costanza who shot his high score with a super 154 (good choice to bring the 30!) Lane also taking group with a very nice for the conditions .561 beating out Jeff's .613.
The Aggregates aka "The Money Match" $5.00 of your entry fee goes into cash pot for the lucky winners,
1st-3rd in the Individual Aggs 1st-4th in the Grand.
Score Aggregate: 1st: Lane Buxton 611, 2nd: Francis Lee 610, 3rd: Jeff Rodriguez 602.
Group Aggregate: 1st: Jeff Rodriguez .7616, 2nd: Greg Wilson .7947, 3rd: Lane Buxton .7963
Grand Aggregate:
T1st: Lane Buxton & Jeff Rodriguez 4 pts,
3rd: Francis Lee 6 points, 4th: Ron Pepper 9 points.
My personal thanks to everyone for pitching in to help with the match since I was flying solo,
especially to Jeff Rodriguez & Bill Costanza for ramrodding the setup and teardown, and running targets.
I hope to see everyone in October for the 100/200yd UNL Group match, back to a Chabot in November.
