Sloughhouse Benchrest Shooters held a Chabot Special 200 YD match Saturday at Sac Valley Shooting Center,
in the heart of the Ione Triangle. We had a nice turnout with 13 shooters enjoying a beautiful summer morning,
temps starting in the low 60's climbing to the high 80's by the time we wrapped it up @ 1:00.
The winds started out mild for us but by the 3rd target picked up to that switchy tailwind out of the SW,
and the scores reflected it!
The match started with noted Palma shooter Lane Buxton breaking out the PPC I sold him and putting everyone on notice with a smoking 156 score (high score of the match) and a .627 group agg. LR shooter Shawn Davison also came down the hill to join us, just edging Lane's group agg with a sweet .572.
Target 2 was won by yours truly with a 153 score on a tiebreaker over Shawn and Francis Lee by virtue of my winning the group agg with a .497 agg (small agg of the match.) That 30 BR just shoots!
Apparently the wind gods thought we were getting cocky so they stepped it up a notch or two for Target 3!
Lane "favor center" took score again with a 152, and I took the group agg again with a .798, with the conditions picking up only 5 shooters managed to keep their agg under an inch on the 3rd target.
Target 4 was won by Jeff Rodriguez in score with a 151, Lane taking group with a .757 agg. Once again only 5 shooters with sub inch group aggs.
I want to mention a few new (to us) shooters who joined us namely Jim Burton, Dave Robinson, Don Klotz, and most notably Craig Johnson who down the mountain to join us boys and finished 2nd in the Grand.

Grand Aggregate: 1st: Lane Buxton 3 pts, 2nd Craig Johnson 5 pts, 3rd Greg Wilson 8 pts
My personal thanks to everyone for pitching in to help with the match since I was flying solo,
especially to Jeff Rodriguez & Bill Costanza for ramrodding the setup and teardown,
I hope to see everyone back in September, we have a group match scheduled but there
is some talk about doing another Chabot. More to follow..
