Selling Coyote Pelts in NW Nevada.....Looking for Leads

This thread makes me want to break out the traps and get back in the game. I love hunting coyotes, etc. with a call and firearm, but there's something special about being able to make a coyote, fox, whatever, put that foot on one square inch of God's green earth or you don't catch 'em.

The one trapping 'adventure' I don't miss is doing beaver control work, especially in the warmer months. Nasty, back breaking work in knee deep mud, mosquito's, snakes and giardia.....had encounters with all of the above, and believe me, the giardia is worse than the others combined.

NAFA went to bankruptcy last summer, haven't heard if they are back in business or not. They still have a couple of prime bobcat pelts of mine from last year...
If anyone knows a better mousetrap so to speak for selling, please update here if you can

I doubt that NAFA will ever be back, but who knows? According to the report from Fur Harvesters of America only the Western heavies yotes sold 100% at their online auction. Seems to me like Western semi heavies sold at about 30% and Eastern and Central yotes were completely unsold. They were unable to hold in person auctions last year. Coon, forget about it.

The value of coyote furs are extremely variable as there are amazing regional differences in most aspects of the fur, with the western dogs being the greatest valuable most years. I bought and worked on quite a few coyotes from MT, WY, ID, etc in the late 70's early 80's and they were beautiful. The western coyotes are very pale and soft compared to those I would buy from MN and WI which have a coarse fur that is darker and often an ugly reddish cover that most people would never want to make a collar out of on their coat. The value of the furs is strongly correlated to the characteristics I mentioned.

I can skin and flesh pretty fast even 4 decades later but I would leave the dark ugly coyotes laying where I shot them as they are not worth the time to process as they will not bring enough to buy a decent burger.
