Selecting a reciever.

I am planning in the future a one rifle to replace 99% of my bolt guns.
I am looking at receivers right now and my requirements are as follows and all must be met not just some. I have read through the metal work link on the main page and gone through all the links and have not found what I was looking for yet. I am just looking for a place to start looking or someone who might make something along these lines.

Action large enough to safely shoot the 338 Lapua magnum.

Integrated recoil lug either pinned or part of the receiver.

A set of bolts with different bolt faces for changing to different calibers. All these bolts must have the same dimension from bolt face to receiver face.

Take a rem700 trigger.

Integrated scope base.

Safely support a 30 inch heavy palma contour barrel an any caliber I choose to chamber a barrel for down the road.

Things that I am not worried about are weight and to an extent cost as I am aware that what I am looking for is going to be uncommon.

You didn't say weather or not you want it to be a single shot or repeter.

I love the BAT action, but not sure about the intergrated scope base.

I am OK with either single shot or repeater. However single shot would be stiffer. Even with my repeaters I just single load 90% of the time. The only time I would ever load from magazine is my one and only hunting rifle in 6.5x55. And I have never hunted, so it sits there waiting for its time.

Also on the scope base would allowing for a pinned and bolted on base open up my options instead of requiring that it be part of the actions?

Doesn't have an integrated scope rail, but the "P" and "PL" are worth a look. http://www.barnard.co.nz/

Now that I know about the barnard action I would also have to add that for an action to qualify it would have to be made in the USA. Not saying that there isn't quality actions outside the US just that would like to be able to call the mfg without having to pay crazy phone bill if I need assistance or advice on my project.

BAT M 8.5 " or L 10.0"action http://www.batmachine.com/products/products.htm would be the way to go. My M has a recoil built under the action, and My B has a pinned lug. BAT wll add a built in lug to most action. I can change barrels without removing anything, stock or scope. BAT does not have a Integrated scope base, but they have a heavy bolt on Base. I have seen many BAT's in 338L and do very well.

If i were going to be building the rifle you want the only thing i would change is not having the integrated rail. I have had both on custom actions. For me, if i was only going to bench rest shoot with it thats what i would prefer but if i was going to have and shoot different calibers on the same rifle switching barrels and bolts i would want a rail that i could change out on top of the receiver having what ever MOA built into it if i was going to be shooting long range. I would take a hard look at Defiance if the integrated rail is not a deal buster. I just ordered another and they are super people who will take their time and help you out. Their actions are second to none and willing to do things others will not.

Im with you Mark, im going with a BAT M when i order one soon. I wanted a integral pic rail also but no dice for a larger diameter action. BAT does make the HR-PIC that is a reapeter or single shot ,integrated rail and recoil lug at the front 1.36 diam like a rem.. MY other criteria unlike minesweeper is i will only buy a SS action.

I was planning on running a set of dial adjustable elevation rings instead of having multiple bases. One scope that never moves and never needs to be moved.
