SEEKING LOTS OF ADVICE

Well to start I have the BR BUG!! I sent off all my parts for my first BR rifle to Leonard Baity a couple of weeks ago. He is building me a 6mm Dasher.

I am wanting to step up my handloading and make benchrest quality ammo for this rifle. I have never turned necks, used hand dies, or even measured runout.

I would like to purchase quality comonents and do it right the first time.

I am looking at purchasing a K&M Neckturner kit and arbor press. Quality dies and measuring devices.

If you would share advice on quality equipment I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, I am having a no turn chamber but would like to clean up the necks on Lapua Brass.

What is the best method of turning necks for the Dasher? After Fireforming?

Thanks for any and all help, I am very excited to have this build on the way.

If you have no reloading experience the very first thing you should do is purchase the Lyman Reloading Guide. It is the best book ever published on reloading and it will cover all the basics and some advanced procedures.

However, to get into the benchrest reloading world, I agree with DaveBerg, try to find a mentor, it will save you a lot of time and money.

.257,
Welcome to the forum and the exciting world of BR shooting. Dave is spot on, however many members will answer your thread with slightly different ideas on reloading and @ least the bulk of them will probably be right, just different methods and it can get confusing and overwhelming. I suggest Glen Zedikers book, hand loading for competition I doubt to many will disagree with that advice. If you never talked to another live person, just read his book and followed it you would be able to load competitive ammunition and shoot competitively. http://www.zediker.com/books/handloading/hlmain.html
K&M products are top quality, but I think there are better or easier to use neck turners out there, I like the Sinclair NT-4000 or the 21st century shooting Neck turner the best and the latter is the better and easiest to use of the two.

Again Dave is right if you could find a accomplished BR shooter to help you, I guarantee there will be a lot less unused equipment collecting dust and un-ruined brass in your scrap bucket and all the frustrations that go with it. And take the time to go through the archives of this forum, articles, daily bulletins,
and old posts that may have interests to you. Good luck my friend and most of all enjoy ;)

P.S And by all means continue to ask questions on this forum, there is a wealth of knowledge to be had here, its just your question you have ask now is a question on how to do it all not a specific question on a single specific subject and would require each poster to write a whole book to answer your question.
