Lol. Better to scare them off then have them turn into a pile of bear crap. Lol@Ledd Slinger
Now Now
Let's not scare anyone away from our beautiful country with talk of being Lunch for our natives. Lol
Btw. You should have told your buddy to invest in tire chains for that fancy new truck....
The UP of Michigan is worth considering. No moose hunting, lottery elk hunt in the lower peninsula, good black bear hunting, great deer hunting, grouse, turkey, waterfowl, coyote. Beautiful scenery, low population, lots of public land, reasonable taxes, good fishing opportunities (3 Great Lakes and 100's of inland lakes). Fairly conservative socially, although they vote Dem most of the time, pretty stable economy, gun friendly and nice people.Trying to use options available to me to help narrow down where would be best for us to move to up north for a year or two. Itd be a good move for my job, but also seeking hunting and fishing opportunities.
Border states only... washington, montana, maine, new york, nh, vt, mn, wi etc etc...
I dont know the fish and game law anywhere else but texas... id be living where ever I moved so id be a resident... id be after black bear, elk, mule deer, moose, etc... anything ive never experienced. Of course there would have to be alot of public land im assuming. More wilderness to go hunt the better... not totall sure what else to add to get this converstation off the ground.
Just ask yourself how many users on this for "actually" know what a snatch block is. No offense meant to anyone. If you don't know, I did not mean to offend you..Lol. Better to scare them off then have them turn into a pile of bear crap. Lol
The pics don’t do justice to the actual angle the truck was at. Right on the verge of rolling over. Chains would not have saved him cuz the dummy drove right off the road. It was his first time going into the mountains with me. Had to go to town and get a wrecker and winch him out sideways with a snatch block tied off to a big tree on the other side of the road because there was no way to haul him out by connecting to the front or rear of the truck. Even steeper drop off on the other side of the road. I always have a 20k on tow strap with me but I never would have got him out of the ditch because I couldn’t get any side angle on the road and I’m positive that trying to move the truck forward in that situation would have caused it to roll over. There was a giant rock behind the rear of the truck that prevented any chance of pulling him out from the rear.
Good thing the local wrecker driver was all geared up for getting people out of situations like that or his Chevy might have been a roadside decoration until the next spring. Lol
If I were only going for a year or so, no reason NY isnt ok. Honestly.
Upstate and adirondack is full of Whitetail, turkey, coyote and great fishing. Samon River, finger Lakes, lots of trout streams. If you are in CNY, or Northern NY, nothing is more than 4 hours away
You can hunt with shotgun and rifle. it would be too short a time to make handgun of any type worthwhile attempt.
Good fly fishing, trolling, ice fishing, bear, small game.
You might be surprised. And the food in CNY is pretty good.
Having heard the term but never being personally exposed to it I fired up my Google machine. I learn something every day but forget 2 things daily!Just ask yourself how many users on this for "actually" know what a snatch block is. No offense meant to anyone.
