Just wish someone???? would have a Warehouse to shoot in as the saying goes ""IF THEY BUILD IT THEY WILL COME""

I have allways thought about digging a range, say 250 yards long, 20 ft wide and say 15 feet deep.
big dozer job. I can kind of picture it. just gravel the bottom of it, I allways run into a problem with the walls and some type of roof to keep the rain and weather out. Would love for it to be lighted Kind of a under ground range. could shoot all night and no one would hear me shooting...my dream would be to have it attatched to my house so i could just go down to the basement and walk in to my range..I knew of some much wealther than me people to have a 100yrd indoor sound proof range..

Gene Beggs built a 100 yard tunnel in Odessa, Texas as a commercial venture. It is open for business. Gene describes some of the tunnel characteristics in the Benchrest Central posts below.

I am not going to mention his name, but a well known smith has a 100 yard 3 ft. diameter tunnel under his living room right next to his reload bench and smith shop in the basement. His wife can be watching TV and not even hear him shooting right under her feet. I almost fell over when he showed me. He has a sand pit at receiving end with a manhole cover for access in the weeds.

3 ft in diameter? what is it a pipe? Does he have a camera system at the other end? how does he retrieve and set up the target?
Sounds intriguing. They just finished a pipeline near us and have a lot of 54" pipe laying around. A farmer I know bought most all of it below scrap price. He got it below scrap price because the pipeline company did not have to transport it to the scrap yard. That would work!!!

Its concrete pipe sections pieced together with an inner layer of 18 inch white PVC pipe centered in the concrete. He had some kind of lighting system that ran all the way to the sand pit at 100 yards, and I am guessing it was some kind of soft LED lighting. The target was accessed by a manhole cover and was probably guessing 4-6 feet below the ground. That part of it i did not see, but I could see the target hanging from the bench where i stood. I thought it was very very cool and I had never seen something like that.
