SECRET REDNECK CREEDMOOR CLUB

Oh, there’s a happy thought!:(
I would be tempted to go through the yellow a bit more to get some more black showing. I'm a fan of the yellow on black laminate. Really any color with black: purple, blue, green, red, orange, all great stuff!

Too many guns are way too serious and militant looking. Scares people away who might otherwise try it out.

Also makes it hard to demonize them. Can you imagine a politician holding up a picture of a gun with bright colored laminates saying, "this is a weapon of war and has no place in a citizen's hands!"

Thanks for the thought . I saw a “yellow stock” on this forum a couple years ago and it stuck in my mind. I’ve wanted to make one since then. With the emergence of the Secret Creedmoor Club, I felt it would be the perfect stock for such an awesome cartridge!:p :rolleyes:Besides, I think the kids will like it;). If you have the energy, buy a blank and read the “Do it yourself stockmaking thread”. A typical stock takes about 40 hours to make.
Also take a look at the classifieds. There’s a Tony the Tiger stocked gun for sale. A bit gregarious for my tastes but it is to your point.

I’m going to rattle Can this thing in clear. Who knows how it’ll turn out. I ain’t good with paint.

I enjoy stockmaking a lot, here was my latest project with a piece of laminate from Richards Microfit:

I wasn't super happy with the blank's quality and would appreciate any leads on better suppliers.

I rubbed on Minwax polyurethane for mine and sanded between coats. I am happy with how that worked out, but mine is a satin finish, not a gloss. I'm not sure how it would work for a glass-like gloss finish if that's what you're going for. I've never had much luck with rattle cans so if there's an alternative, I use it. I've also always intentionally left imperfections in my stocks; it helps me not get too uptight about using it when its done.

I just put the most awesomest gun together. This might be the pinnacle of my career! It’s a Winchester Model 70 in (of course) 6.5 Creedmoor. I bought the action from Skeetlee so I had him chamber me up a Rock Creek medium Palma barrel. The chamber dimensions are so top secret, he couldn’t even tell me unless he killed me.;) I found a SWEET Vortex Viper 6-24 scope for it, too!:p Go ahead and drool, fellas! I’m going to sight her in at 25 so she’ll be good to 1000! Then I’ll go for a moon shot.:D
The stock isn’t quite finished. I ran short on time so I’ll get to those details later.:(

Very nice that's all I can say. Forget the 25 yard thing, shoot for the red spot on Jupiter.

A 6.5 Creedmoor-Vortex marriage in Bumblebee wood. Probably should be hung in the Louvre. No, you better call me the first time you take it out. I may need to check it out for wormholes. Partially agree with the good at 25, good at 1000. I'm more inclined to 50 yards.

Edit: I mean if it's good at 25, it's probably good at 50. k-moon.gif

You got to admit it looks good, time to take out all the blackholes in the universe. Josh may be old and slow, like us, but he does damn good work.

Thanks guys! Nothing but my best for the Club. I took a suggestion from Evan and sanded the side of the cheekpiece to the next black layer for a little contrast against the yellow butt.
Dale: I will gladly stand back and let you take the first shots. I like the idea of having a stand in while I keep an eye out for that swarm of bees. I have some test loads to put together. I’ll give you a call when I’m ready! We can try a few shots at a hundred, then take it out to five.;)

That’s just drop dead gorgeous! It looks like a hike to check targets, tho! Studying the trees, it looks like it drops off pretty fast. The first half of the hike could go “quickly”!

I took some time yesterday and finished my new rifle. I pulled it apart, polished the barrel, pulled the Vortex 24 power and mounted a Sightron 10-50. I couldn’t see Jupiter with the Vortex. I didn’t want to limit the range of the mighty Creedmoor.;)

With that rifle and the TALISMAN, who knows what its capabilities. I'd like to be at the range the first time, just to swing some incense over it.

Don’t worry! I’ll be calling you before I go and we’ll pick a nice day. It will probably take both of us to hold down such a powerful beast!:eek::eek::p
